ABOUT YAMAN ELECTRONICS LTD
The story, mission, and helping other
Story
So the story of Yaman Electronics begins like this, My father was passionate about computers back then. He got to know about computers when he was working in a factory where they work in hot temperatures while the guy who knew how to use a computer work under an air conditioner (AC). Later on, my father discovered that AC was not for him but for the big computer sitting there. And this is how he became aware of computers.
Back then computers were too expensive, and you got to know how to work with MS-DOS. My father was very excited about it when computers became less expensive and Windows 95 was introduced. My father bought his first computer. I can’t remember the other specs, but it was manufactured by Compaq.
In my country, Pakistan, the problem was and still is, the load shedding (electricity shortage). And the issue with earlier computers was, you have to shut down them properly else the windows would not work properly or sometimes got crushed. The other issue was these early computers were not entirely designed for our areas. So you will have to carry them to the experts for Windows installation and hardware replacement like RAM. And because of these reasons most of the time a computer in a home would be sitting on a table open. By open, I mean the case was not closed, and you could see the inner of a CPU.
I was a child and I will be sitting there with him while he was doing something on the screen. I never took that much interest in what was on the screen. Furthermore, I was interested in watching the green boards all over there inside the open CPU and the bunch of cool wire strips. I ask dozens of questions about those things. What is this big green thing, my father answers this is the motherboard of the computer. This board is doing everything I do on the screen.
I can’t possibly enlist all my childhood stories and questions and the moments I had with my father and the open CPU. But let me share the one question that changed my life. One normal day my father was working on a computer, and I was looking at the CPU and asked my father who makes these boards. And he answered, “Electronics Engineers”. That was the moment I decided that I want to become an electronics engineer. And now I am writing this story with a smile on my face, some small tears in my eyes as well (because the journey was not that easy), and with a degree in electronics engineering from one of the prestigious institutes in my country. With the blessing of GOD, I did it. Not just under graduation in electronics engineering, but Master’s as well.
I got a passion for electronics from my father. But without my mother, I wouldn’t be here. Her name is Yaman. She guided me while I was a stupid kid. She believed in me when I doubted myself.
So Yaman Electronics is LOVE and PASSION. “Love from mother, Yaman, Passion from father, Zulfiqar”
Mission
I am not a genius or a special person. I am not claiming anything. Here at Yaman Electronics I just want to give my 100% in whatever I do. I want to share my knowledge with people around the globe for free as much as I can. I want to teach people how to have fun by doing amazing little electronics diys. Not only that, but I want to share with people how to use multimeters, oscilloscopes, VNA, spectrum analyzers, breadboards, and soldering stations. If I have to specifically describe the mission of Yaman Electronics in a few words, I would say that:
HELPING PEOPLE LEARN AND PRACTICE ELECTRONICS
My mission is not to bring a big impact or anything like that at the moment. All I want is if someone needs help in electronics I should be there to help. More specifically to help them build circuits on breadboards.
In the long run, I am working to make Yaman Electronics a brand that people know for its transparency, honesty, and quality.
Helping others
I personally believe that we are here to help one another. Because in the end nothing matters. We came from somewhere and we will go somewhere. We should not tie our souls and ourselves to ego or money. And that is the reason I have decided to give 2% of the profit Yaman Electronics earns by selling every single product to people that need it.
I live in under developing country, Pakistan. The majority of people are laborers working in the construction of big cities like Islamabad. I have seen them lifting weights that I personally can’t imagine even moving around. They work from 8 am till 4 pm or even 5 pm. I personally can’t say anything but to appreciate that they are working their asses off to provide for their families.
I have just one problem and that is when they get tired of doing a hard job and coming for a meal, guess what? They can’t afford it. They have to settle for what they can afford and most of the time it is vegetables and even then they look for cheap ones. They even cannot buy themselves onetime good meal in a year. Maybe I am completely wrong, maybe I am right, I don’t know. But I see them all the time and every time I pray GOD to make their lives better.
I can’t solve this problem entirely at this moment. But what I can do is at the end of each month I calculate 2% of Yaman Electronics’ profit and go near hotels where the majority of laborers come and donate 1.2% to those hotels (Dabas). This 1.2% is nothing, but it partially subsidizes the prices of dishes cooked.
The remaining 0.8% goes into similar “supporting others” activities which I personally don’t want to share. Because in Islam when you want to help others you should do it like GOD. GOD just does it without showing us anything and without expecting anything in return from us. And at Yaman Electronics I follow this strategy. I help others not because I want to go to heaven, nor because I am a good person, I just do it. I am not sure of the rest of the team, but personally, I don’t need other reasons than this, we are brothers and sisters no matter where we live and what religion we follow.
I am really working hard and hoping that one day Yaman Electronics will be in a position where I will be able to donate more and more.
When you serve yourself you are living your existence, when you serve others – you are living far beyond your existence.
